Learn how to use BESS via online, self-paced courses

Our online training courses are designed for planning permit applicants, ESD consultants and council officers who either prepare or assess BESS reports for development applications. Using a case study approach, learn how to confidently complete sustainability assessments and improve your understanding of the BESS tool. Completing training also allows you to be listed on our BESS Trained Professionals page.

BESS Buildings - Class 1 (houses & townhouses) - $120 + GST

BESS Buildings - Advanced (apartments, non-residential and mixed use developments) - $180 + GST

This course builds on and refers back to content from the Class 1 course. For this reason it is suitable for trainees who have completed the Class 1 course. 

Training Package - $300 + GST

Includes both the BESS Advanced and BESS Class 1 training courses.

Training for Council Officers 

CASBE member councils - contact us for discounted training access for council officers. 

 

You are not required to complete a training course to use the BESS tools. BESS tools can be used for free for a project in any subscribing council area. However, if you regularly prepare complex assessments it is recommended that you undertake a BESS training course.

BESS training is not intended to provide instruction on sustainable design. It is assumed that attendees have a working knowledge of sustainable design prior to attending the training.
